Hi Opera Columbus Friends and Family!
I hope this message finds you all in great spirits! I’m thrilled to share some exciting news—I have accepted an extension of my contract with Opera Columbus for another year. I am now the 2023-2025 Crane Directing Fellow, and I can’t wait to dive into the next season, starting with The Threepenny Opera as choreographer and assistant director. None of this would be possible without your incredible support, and for that, I’m truly grateful.
As we wrap up an amazing 2024 season, I’m reaching out to ask for your help to finish strong. Opera Columbus has been instrumental in creating opportunities for BIPOC stage directors like myself. From Carmen to Eugene Onegin and A Magic Flute Experience: The Temple, this season has been a whirlwind of creativity and community impact. Opera Columbus isn’t just about opera—it’s a cornerstone of Columbus’ cultural fabric, bringing together artists, educators, and audiences to share powerful stories through the magic of opera.
This season has been a journey of self-discovery and artistic growth for me. Through early-career opportunities and incredible collaborations, I’ve found inspiration and creative freedom, thanks to your unwavering support. Your generosity has helped me develop my voice as an artist, and I can’t thank you enough for that.
I invite you to join me in keeping opera vibrant and impactful. Your gift of $50 or more will make a world of difference as we strive to reach our end-of-season goal of $10,000 by Sunday, June 30. Together, we can continue to nurture emerging talent in Columbus and beyond.
Thank you for believing in the power of opera and for your continued support. Let’s make this season finale one to remember!
Warm regards,
Brandon Shaw McKnight
P.S. I can’t wait to see and meet you at the theatre and around the community next season! ❤️
