Mezzo Soprano Kathleen Shelton has gained international recognition as a mezzo to watch with her caramel colored voice and electric stage presence. This summer she will sing Flosshilde in Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s Rhinegold and be a featured soloist on their final Strauss Song Recital. In 2017 she sang throughout Europe and made her role debut as Nicklausse(Les contes d’Hoffman) with St. Petersburg Opera (FL).
In 2016 she performed Suzuki in North Shore Music Festival’s Madame Butterfly, covered Mrs. Sedley(Peter Grimes) with The Princeton Festival and performed Maddalena(Rigoletto) with Western Plains Opera. As a Studio Artist with Sarasota Opera, she was called, “a natural on stage, with perfect facial expressions,”(OperaPronto) as Dorabella in Così fan tutte. A native of Cleburne, TX, Ms. Shelton holds a Master of Music degree from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Belton, TX).
