MATT GRAY is a Brooklyn-based director, producer, and writer originally from Marysville, Ohio. He is very proud to return home to make his Opera Columbus debut having previously directed As One at New York City Opera (2019), Chautauqua Opera (2018) and its European premiere in Berlin (2016). He is the Producing Director at The American Opera Project (AOP), an organization specializing in the creation of contemporary opera (including As One, which it commissioned and premiered in 2014). Gray has a BFA in Film Directing from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In July 2019 he became the General Director of The American Opera Project (AOP), an organization specializing in the creation of contemporary opera (including As One, which it commissioned and premiered in 2014), having been with the company for fifteen years.
