Thomas Petrushka, a “notable, resonant bass” (Brooklyn Eagle) continues to distinguish himself as an important presence in the emerging young artist field. He has performed with Opera Columbus, Opera Project Columbus, The Ohio State University Lyric and Opera Theatre, Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance, and Seagle Music Colony.
Recently, Thomas world premièred the role of The Player in Herschel Garfein’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at Seagle Music Colony, Il Commendatore and Masetto in Opera Columbus’s #UncleJohn, and advanced in the Ohio District Metropolitan Grand Council Audition and received second place in the 2018 Regional Finals in Chicago.
Locally, Thomas has performed Il Narratore in Nino Rota’s I Due Timidi, Jailer in Tosca in “Powerful Puccini”, King Balthazar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors in 2016 and 2018 with Opera Project Columbus. Thomas also appeared as Dr. Pangloss in Candide, Rambaldo in La rondine, Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd, and Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni at The Ohio State University’s Lyric and Opera Theatre. In the summer of 2015 and 2016, Thomas participated in Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance as The Corporal in La fille du régiment under the baton of Imre Palló and Colline cover in La Bohème under the baton of Maestro Willie Anthony Waters and participated in a masterclass with James Morris. He is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance at The Ohio State University in the studio of Robin Rice.
