HOW WILL I UNDERSTAND IF THE OPERA IS IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE?
How will I understand if the opera is in another language?
Every opera has English surtitles. These are very similar to subtitles you see on TV shows and movies.
And check out our social media to view videos of the cast members explaining the plot of each show in 90 seconds or less!
WHEN DO I APPLAUD DURING AN OPERA?
When do I applaud during an opera?
Our performers love to hear your applause! If you are ever unsure of when to applaud, take cues from your fellow audience members.
Want to feel like a true opera extraordinaire? Add a “BRAVO” (or “BRAVA” for female leads) during the cast’s bows. This is opera language for “well done!”.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE OPERA?
What should I wear to the opera?
There is no dress code for opera!
Some patrons choose to dress for a special occasion, while others prefer to keep it casual.
We encourage our audience members to wear whatever they are comfortable in.
CAN I TAKE PICTURES AT THE OPERA?
Can I take pictures at the opera?
Flash photography and video/audio recordings are prohibited during an opera performance. You can take non-flash photos during the performances.
And you are more than welcome to take pictures before the show, after the show and during intermission! Opera Columbus has amazing photo opportunities in the lobby area.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN I ARRIVE
How will I know what to do when I arrive?
For every performance, Opera Columbus sends a “Know Before You Go” email.
This email includes all of the key information you will need to know before coming to the theatre.
WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE TO THE OPERA?
When should I arrive to the opera?
Plan on arriving about 30-40 minutes early. This gives you plenty of time to park, get your tickets from Will Call if needed, and find your seats in the theatre without feeling rushed.
Latecomers are seated (or stand) in the rear of the theatre until ushers take them to their seats at an appropriate point in the production.
